SNOW!!!

So there is a TON of snow in Heber. Here are some pics. Driving has been interesting to say the least. I am surprised that I have made it through Provo Canyon a few times and even getting to work yesterday was a complete white out and couldnt see my exit. So I had to guess and actually made it through a big snow drift. So not fun. It is pretty but I just wish the roads werent so bad to drive on.

Monday

Here are a few cute pics from AZ when I went. Thought I would share

My Job Description. . .

This is for all the dispatchers (myself included) this sums it up pretty well.... I thought it was good

Dispatchers are expected to have:
-the compassion of Mother Theresa;
-the wisdom of Solomon;
-the interviewing skills of Oprah Winfrey;
-the gentleness of Florence Nightingale;
-the patience of Job;
-the voice of Barbara Streisand;
-the knowledge of Einstein;
-the answers of Ann Landers;
-the humor of David Letterman;
-the investigative skills of Sgt. Joe Friday;
-the looks of Melanie Griffith or Don Johnson;
-the faith of Billy Graham;
-the energy of Charo;
-and the endurance of the Energizer Bunny

A TRIBUTE TO DISPATCHERS By Chief Thomas Wagoner, Loveland Co. PD

Someone once asked me if I thought that answering telephones for a living was a profession. I said, "I thought it was a calling." And so is dispatching. I have found in my law enforcement career that dispatchers are the unsung heroes of public safety. They miss the excitement of riding in a speeding car with lights flashing and sirens wailing. They can only hear of the bright orange flames leaping from a burning building. They do not get to see the joy on the face of worried parents as they see their child begin breathing on its own, after it has been given CPR.Dispatchers sit in darkened rooms looking at computer screens and talking to voices from faces they never see. It's like reading a lot of books, but only half of each one.Dispatchers connect the anxious conversations of terrified victims, angry informants, suicidal citizens and grouchy officers. They are the calming influence of all of them - the quiet, competent voices in the night that provide the pillars for the bridges of sanity and safety. They are expected to gather information from highly agitated people who can't remember where they live, what their name is, or what they just saw. And then, they are to calmly provide all that information to the officers, firefighters, or paramedics without error the first time and every time.Dispatchers are expected to be able to do five things at once - and do them well. While questioning a frantic caller, they must type the information into a computer, tip off another dispatcher, put another caller on hold, and listen to an officer run a plate for a parking problem. To miss the plate numbers is to raise the officer's ire; to miss the caller's information may be to endanger the same officer's life. But, the officer will never understand that.Dispatchers have two constant companions, other dispatchers and stress. They depend on one, and try to ignore the other. They are chastened by upset callers, taken for granted by the public, and criticized by the officers. The rewards they get are inexpensive and infrequent, except for the satisfaction they feel at the end of a shift, having done what they were expected to do.Dispatchers come in all shapes and sizes, all races, both sexes, and all ages. They are blondes, and brunettes, and redheads. They are quiet and outgoing, single, or married, plain, beautiful, or handsome. No two are alike, yet they are all the same. They are people who were selected in a difficult hiring process to do an impossible job. They are as different as snowflakes, but they have one thing in common. They care about people and they enjoy being the lifeline of society - that steady voice in a storm - the one who knows how to handle every emergency and does it with style and grace; and, uncompromised competence.Dispatchers play many roles; therapist, doctor, lawyer, teacher, weatherman, guidance counselor, psychologist, priest, secretary, supervisor, politician, and reporter. And few people must jump through the emotional hoops on the trip through the joy of one caller’s birthday party, to the fear of another caller’s burglary in progress, to the anger of a neighbor blocked in their drive, and back to the birthday caller’s all in a two minute time frame. The emotional roller coaster rolls to a stop after an 8 or 10 hour shift(12 for me), and they are expected to walk down to their car with steady feet and no queasiness in their stomach - because they are dispatchers. If they hold it in, they are too closed. If they talk about it, they are a whiner. If it bothers them, it adds more stress. If it doesn't, they question themselves, wondering why.

Thanksgiving Weekend

So Thanksgiving weekend was a lot of fun. It was good to just hang out with my family and be warm! We had dinner on Saturday and just hung out the rest of the time. And we blessed lil Rudy on Sunday. And I got to hang out with my cute nieces and nephews. They crack me up. Too funny. Then I came home to snow. . . of course. And its snowing now. Oh well, guess its supposed to snow in December, I just dont want to drive in it.

Wednesday

Happy Turkey Day!

Happy Thanksgiving!
I am just sitting here in the middle of the night and thought I would say Happy Turkey Day to everyone! I dont think it is snowing outside. . . yet. I think it is supposed to later today though so we will see. But I am not doing anything for Thanksgiving today but will be later this weekend with my family in AZ! I am so excited to be flying out early Friday morning but not too happy about the traffic with all the early crazy shoppers. And yes you are crazy if you get up that early just to go to a store! But I hate shopping so I can say that.
I cant believe that it is already Thanksgiving though! This year has gone by pretty fast. It doesnt seem like very long ago I was just trying to decide when to go on my cruise, but now its been almost 2 months since I went. Crazy. Well anyways, hope everyones turkeys and pies turn out delicious! (and all the other stuff too)

Sunday

A fun day by myself

Well I know that I am always by myself usually but I dont usually do what I did today by myself. I went to Orem and went to Mervyns to see what kind of sales they have since the store is going out of business and found some stuff for christmas presents and some more stuff for my kitchen that I needed. Then I decided that I wanted to see Twilight even though I didnt have anyone to come with me. So I went by myself, I have NEVER gone to a movie by myself and it wasnt too bad. I actually went to 2 movies by myself yesterday! Twilight was sold out so I went to another one while waiting for it to start. I saw Forever Strong and it was a really good movie. Then I went grocery shopping and came home. Oh ya I bought a Christmas tree too! Its just a little one but my apartment is little so it fits! So there was my fun day hanging out with me. I know pathetic but whatever thats me!

Wednesday

Homesick Blues

So imagine this little picture as a girl and that is how I am feeling lately. :( I know that I have been home quite a few times this year and I have a couple more trips planned but it has been so hard on my days off without my sister in Utah anymore. I spent the week with Vickie and Carolisa down in the valley a couple weeks ago and had a blast but it is so hard not having them up here. You should have seen my little nieces face when I left for the airport and yes I did cry. (And yes Vickie she was crying because I was leaving not you. lol) So needless to say I am very excited to go back to Vickie and Kings next weekend and see my WHOLE family. Yes my whole family will be there even GG and I cant wait to see all of them. My dad and I are planning on being tired and ornery together since we both have to work graves before we go down. :) And yes I will probably be a mess when I have to leave again because in my old age I am becoming one of those people that cry a lot! :) Not really just when I am not around my family.

Miss you!

Monday

Lil Rudy Bloomfield

Okay so I am way late in posting this but I now have 3 nephews and 2 nieces! My family is growing and no I am not contributing on that any time soon. But Lil Rudy got here on the 11th day of the 11th month and in the 11th hour! So I think he might like the number 11. But here is the little guy and yes he was about 5 weeks early so he is kinda little but I am so excited to see him in a couple weeks. Mom and baby are home and doing well.

Here is Lil Rudy Wayne. . . named after both his great grandpas

Happy Early Halloween!!!

So I know this is a couple days early but they had a trunk or treat in the valley and Vickie took my niece to it tonight with my brother and other niece. So here she is as a witch! So dang cute! On the phone she kept telling me to look and I guess was pointing to her makeup. I love her!!! She doesnt like the hat though, thats why her hair is colored and makeup done. I cant wait to see her on Saturday. And being able to see my new nephew and Lane and Kaelyn and by bros and sisters this weekend. It should be fun.

Sunday

Tara's Wedding

Friday was my only day off this week and what a better way to spend it than with family you never get to see and at a wedding? Nothing if you ask me! I was able to go to SLC temple and wait for Tara and Scott to come out and take pics with them. It was a fun day. I was able to see my Uncle Richards family and my Uncle Carl and Aunt Kristen and cousin Carla. It was fun. Then we went to the luncheon and then the reception later that night. So here are a couple pics of the the family of the bride and my little cousin that I got to steal during pictures. He was so dang cute! Thank you Karen and Ben! The pics are a little blurry cuz i forgot my real camera and had to use my cell phone.

Saturday

Castle in Newport

These are the pics from the castle. It wouldnt let me attach them to the message below.

Boston and Newport

Okay so here are some pictures from Boston. We went to an aquarium then just walked along the Freedom Trail and saw some of the sites from there. We went to Paul Revere's house and to the Old North Church and whatever we saw in between there. All of my pictures from Canada and Maine are on another card and I cant get them to upload on my computer so I will have to wait til I have them on CD to get them on here I guess. I have not been sea sick at all so its been nice. Oh wait thats a lie I did get sick a little bit when we went whale watching in Maine. But that is because the weather was really bad and the boat was going crazy and I was FREEZING to death! The food has been awesome! and tons of it, I have probably gained a lot of weight from being here. NOT GOOD. So when I get home lots of running on the treadmill for me since there is probably snow on the ground. Well today is the last day and I went to a castle in Newport, Rhode Island it was huge and really cool. The owners of it today have been in it since 1953 I think and they bought it for $25,000. Wouldnt that be nice? LOL. All right I am back in New York tomorrow and home tomorrow night and I am excited to get back home, I know it sounds wierd but there are a lot of people around here all of the time and I dont like a lot of people. :)

Starfish- I did get to touch one too!
Cool turtle
They had a lot of sea horses
This is Paul Revere's statue
and a reflection in the water that I took at Newport

New York so far. . .

All right well we have been in New York since Friday night and have walked around times square a few times and did the first part of our tour on Saturday. So we went to the Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island, Ground Zero, St. Pauls Cathedral, another big- huge- church St. Peters - I think. I will even include a picture of all the people I am on the tour with. I am the youngest one by at least 30-40 yrs! I cant wait to get on the ship and not have to walk .2 mph! New York is way crowded but its been fun so far. I will post again in a couple days.

Me and Liberty

Check out these magazines that are all folded!

Hurricane Kyle!

So I get on the internet to post the pictures from yesterday and this is what I see: (click on the site) http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080928/ap_on_re_us/tropical_weather
Hello people!!!! I am supposed to be here next week! And this is exactly where we are going, Halifax, New Brunswick and Maine. Fabulous! Hopefully it does do too much damage when it makes landfall tonight or early tomorrow cuz if it does I am going to be looking at damaged beautiful places and not just the beautiful places! And hopefully there isnt another one to follow this one cuz that might affect our trip next week. But dont worry I am still looking forward to it and it will still be fun, if we dont get stuck in a hurricane, that might be a bit scary. Hopefully mom and grandma dont see this that might them a little more uneasy than I am. :)

Saturday Afternoon Pictures!

So on Saturday afternoon Ashley,Jame,Vickie and the kids and I all went to Provo Canyon to take some pictures. Mostly of Gavin and Carolisa and they turned out so dang cute. Here are a few. . .

Friday

New York here i come. .. in 2 weeks!

Yay so in 2 weeks from today I will be in New York starting my cruise! I am really excited but also really starting to get anxiety! I am just really nervous about all the people and the huge buildings. I am from the mountains people! and big buildings and lots of people might just scare me! LOL. But with some of my calls that I have gotten at work lately I really need to get away before I really yell at someone! Probably not a good idea. :)

Saturday

New Nephew!!!

Introducing my new nephew Coleton! He got here late on September 10th at 10:o5pm weighing in at 6lbs 7oz and a whopping 19 inches long! I wasnt able to see him yet so hopefully sometime I can get down to AZ again to see this little cute guy. So Lane is a big bro and I dont know how he is liking that yet, I havent heard. But here are a few pics of my new little buddy.
Proud Daddy and baby Coleton

Wednesday

Cruise time is coming up

So in a few weeks I will be going on a cruise!!!! Yeah! I am getting excited and kinda nervous! But my grandma, my mom and I are going to New York then up to Canada to a couple places then back down the coast line to a few of the states! It will be awesome to see all these different places. The farthest I have been is Portland Oregon so I am sure New York is going to be an experience of its own! I will let you know how it goes in about a month and a half when I get back! And I am sure I will probably mention it before then too! :)
And this is a picture of a cruise ship probably similar to the one I will be on

This is a place in Maine that I will be going too! Its really pretty huh?

1st time Massage

So I went and got a massage yesterday. . . Finally. My neck and shoulders have been hurting so bad. First I have to say that it was a little wierd, cuz those of you who know me know that I like my personal space. Unless I have known ya for a long time then I am okay with giving a hug or whatever but not so much with someone I dont know. Ya so it was a little wierd, maybe it wont be so bad next time. It did feel really good once I got past the whole somebody is touching me part. Now I am a little bit sore, but not too bad. When I got done I felt like a greased pig, it was really gross and the oil got in my hair so it looked like I hadn't showered for a while but I promise I showered before I went and then when I got home. :) Now its time to go running, I have been trying to go everyday and do sit ups and other excercises because I only have six weeks until my CRUISE!!!!! Gotta love it!

Friday

Sad Day for Wasatch/Summit Counties

I dont even have words for what happened yesterday. Here is the sight with the information.http://www.ksl.com/?nid=148&sid=4012329 I actually passed by this on my way to my sisters house and knew that something was wrong. I later recieved a call from one of my friends who is a UHP Trooper telling me what had happened ( Thanks Trent). This just makes me realize that at any given point this could happen to one of my officers and I dont think I would be able to handle it. Most of the officers that I dispatch for have worked with Scott and I have heard stories about how all of them loved working with him. I feel bad for the family and friends of this officer who are grieving at this time. A lot of respect goes to the lady that he pulled over who did everything she could and set up precautionary cones and administer CPR until emergency vehicles got there.

Tuesday

Rexburg trip

So I had a few days off and so I headed to Rexburg for a couple of days. I havent been there since I graduated um 5 years ago! Ya a lot has changed and the temple is really pretty. Due to my lack of reading right or something it was closed due to construction or maintanence so we went to the Idaho Falls temple. It was really pretty also. The river is amazing. But I am not going to lie I was bummed about the Rexburg temple cuz that was pretty much the reason of going up there. I did go and see a couple of the cooks that I used to work with so that was good. They actually remembered who I was, but then again who can forget??? LOL

Thursday

24th of July

So I went to St. Johns for the 24th. I haven't been there for a couple years and it was really fun to just hang out with my family. All of us were able to be there for the weekend so we took family pictures and just had fun together. Me and my Dad went up to the canyon where my parents are going to be building there house to build some fence and we almost got struck by lightning, it was so close it scared us. Then on Friday we went branding and I got kicked by the calf in the chest so my ribs were a little bruised but not too bad. Dang I am tough! :) Then on Saturday we went to the parade and the Rodeo and it was so hot and long! But over all I had a great time being with my family and seeing the friends that I was able to see for a little bit.

Friday

Happy Birthday Baby!

Happy Birthday to my niece Carolisa!!!! I cannot believe she is 2 yrs old! I love it. She is starting to talk more and more and its fun to hear her when she thinks she is talking. And she thinks that she can get whatever she wants just cuz she says please. So freakin CUTE! Some of her favorite things are Nemo, Shrek, ME (of course) and just being outside. I love her to death and am going to miss her so much when they move back to AZ! :( I am so not looking forward to that by the way! I know it will be a good move for them but I just dont want them to go! I am sad I am working today so I cant see you baby but I will see you next week at Grammy and Papa's and have a birthday party then!

Thursday

ZOO DAY

We went to the zoo yesterday! It was so much fun. We actually sat down and watched the bird show it was really fun, I have never watched it before we usually dont stay that long or walk by when it is starting. They had this eagle there it was really neat. The birds were flying so low above our heads that one hit my head. I must have jumped cuz Vickie thought it was funny. Carolisa saw the carousel and just HAD to ride it! Her words were "PLEASE!!!!" Its so funny so every time she came around and saw me she would wave and say Hi. It was so cute. I bought an ice cream cone and she thought it was for her. So we had to buy 2 ice cream cones. It was getting warm though so they tasted really good. We saw this really old monkey and it was soooo ugly! This thing had no hair and it was wrinkley and it was funny to watch it eat cuz it would just lick these cheeto looking things. Sad. . . but sooo funny. Anyways it was a good day and when we got back to Vickie's Carolisa managed to lock me out of the house while Vickie was sleeping. I didnt know that she knew how to lock the door or I would have just taken her outside with me. So I had to wake Vickie up so I could get back inside. Then me and Carolisa went shopping to get some fun things to play with at Grammy and Papa's house next week! I cant wait!
